Key Stage 2 Assessment Results 2025 - Bedenham Primary School
SATs examinations are a national framework to measure the attainment and progress of individual children in key academic subjects. The results provide the basis of the school performance tables which are used as the annual measure of how a school is performing in comparison to other schools.
SATs tests are taken at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6). The national expected level of attainment is for children to be working at the "expected standard" at the end of Key Stage 2.
Our published school comparison data may appear lower than expected because it includes all pupils, including those with significant Special Educational Needs. At Bedenham Primary School, this means that the Key Stage 2 assessment results also include pupils from our Resourced Provision, who have complex learning needs and may not be working at age-related expectations.
While their progress and achievements are important and valued, including their outcomes in whole-school figures can lower the overall averages compared with schools that do not have a Resourced Provision.
This context helps explain why our data may look different from other schools, and does not reflect the quality of teaching and learning.
% of pupils meeting expected standard
Pupils are meeting the expected standard if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as 'working at the expected standard' or better in writing.
% of pupils achieving at a higher standard
Pupils are achieving at a higher standard if they achieve a scaled score of 110 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as ‘working at a greater depth within the expected standard’ in writing.
Average score
This score shows how well pupils performed in the key stage 2 reading test. This score is known as the reading ‘scaled score’. The average scaled score is the mean scaled score of all pupils awarded a scaled score. It only includes pupils who took the test and achieved a scaled score. The expected standard is a score of 100 or more. The higher standard is 110 or more.
